The reality is that nobody wants reality. Mostly because it's all messed up and tragic. Reality is that the world is basically a horrible place, and most of us are just doing our best to survive it. We put on a brave face to cover up all of the hurt and pain.

It's like saying, "Stop whining, it's almost over." That's not what anyone wants to hear or deal with. Nobody likes hearing about or dealing with the horrible truth. But the only person really happy with it is Death itself, because he gets to buy some time to finish his job.
